Shahrukh
Khan’s much-awaited sequel of Don finally hit the theatres on 23rd
December, 2011. Don 2 has an impressive star cast and amazing stunts to
keep the audiences engaged throughout the movie. However, an action
packed car chase scene, in particular, has taken the movie buffs on a
thrilling ride of lifetime.
The scene is shot on the busy roads of
Berlin, Germany, which involves around 67 cars. These cars were
especially imported from Korea and include a BMW 5 Series, 2012 Hyundai Sonata, Hyundai Santa Fe
and the Alfa Romeo MiTo. All the cars can be seen cursing through the
streets of Berlin and getting destroyed during the pulse racing chase.

The entire sequence took about three
weeks to be filmed, for which the roads were cordoned off. Diversions
and alternate ways were made to ensure that the local public did not
face any problem due to the shooting of the film. Brandenburgh Gate, the
area where the United States and Russian Consulates are situated, was
used to shoot the climax of this nail-biting scene. Permission to shoot
scenes for Hollywood movies at this location has been denied before;
however Don 2 was fortunate enough to make best possible use of the
place.
Shahrukh Khan said, “Don 2 chase sequence
brings the wow factor to the entire film. It is one of the best
sequences to be shot on Indian celluloid. Its grandeur and scale just
mesmerises audience." The critics and audiences are on the same page
when it comes to Don 2. As a matter of fact, the car chase sequence can
irrefutably be ranked among the top action scenes ever filmed in
Bollywood.
Thus, cars have contributed immensely in raising the bars for both Bollywood and Hollywood films in a considerable way.
